The Plant certainly has been “around the block” in Tokyo and Japan. Over the years they worked on many enterprise-level ecommerce projects – some omnichannel – for clients such as ASICS, Lacoste Japan, Aigle Japan, MTV Japan and others. They have also branched out with offices in Hangzhou in China and Canberra in Australia.
The “magic sauce” at the center of all their solutions is their very own versatile open-source platform QOR Commerce. This platform allows them to rapidly develop, scale and extend cutting-edge ecommerce solutions in a modular fashion.
After all these milestones the Plant team felt that a brush-up of their digital brand guidelines, new key visual illustrations and a new UI design for their website was in order. That’s were we came in.
In a first step we refined their digital brand guidelines by extracting details from their previous website and extended it with an updated color palette and a new corporate font.
As per their request we didn’t design a page-based UI design but rather a UI framework with various flexible modules similar to an Atomic Design System. These will allow the Plant to assemble page variations on the fly as needed and simplify maintenance.
Likewise with the ecommerce inspired illustrated key visuals, they were based on a grid system. This will would allow the Plant to reassemble or extend them in future, which is very much in line with the spirit of their QOR platform.
The UI design implementation was handled directly by the Plant.
