Bento Graphics is the digital home of independent German graphic designer Benjamin Thomas. I work in print and web design with a strong interest in identity design/branding, information architecture for websites and standard compliant XHTML/CSS coding.
My design approach is based on my work experience and the teachings of the Kunsthochule Berlin-Weißensee (Germany), a successor of the Bauhaus tradition, where I graduated with a Diploma in Communication Design (MA/MFA equivalent). I currently enjoy life and work in Tokyo.

…Concept & Ideas
All good design should start with an accurate and rich visual identity. The visual identity will determine the style of the logo design, the choice of fonts and the colours, textures and measures for the layout of all other media. The visual identity is as important for all media, as the conceptual idea for the individual project. The conceptual idea for the individual project sets the logical theme of the work and the underlying structure for navigation and information. I work in art-direction for visual identities and deliver conceptual ideas for projects both in print and digital media.
…Web Design
I specialise on standards-compliant dynamic XHTML/CSS web sites, run on a customized Wordpress CMS (Content Management System), which are easy to update by the client. I am experienced in well structured HTML and CSS and basic Javascript/PHP/Actionscript programming. I also create animations with Flash.
…Print Design
Experienced in illustration, layout, PDF and pre-press procedures for flyers, business-cards, pamphlets, magazines, books etc.

I have good command of all Adobe Creative Suite applications, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign. For web design I use Dreamweaver and Flash. Other applications I use include FinalCut for video editing, Cinema4D for 3d renderings and Modul8 for my VJ live performances.
